Watch a short video to find out how to use the data in your Google Analytics account to find out if your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) efforts are generating organic traffic to your website.
Whether you’re taking a DIY approach to SEO, or paying an agency for SEO services, it’s important to understand if you’re getting a return for the time and money invested. This return can be defined by both the quantity and quality of the organic traffic generated ie are you attracting people who spend time on your website and ideally view more than one page rather than bouncing away.
A Note About Bounce Rate
In the video I mention that if your web visitors bounce away after only viewing one page of your website, then you’re not getting value out of them.
I should have added that if you have a blog, often people will spend time reading your content, and then bounce away, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. For example if you have optimised your blog article for a specific keyword, people might find that blog article in Google when they search for the target keyword, visit your website, find out what they need to know and then bounce away, satisfied.
The value you gain from these visitors relates to your objectives for having a blog. A good approach is to encourage new visitors to subscribe to your email list in order to receive future updates.
