CWC Highlights of 2018

It’s been another big year for the Click-Winning Content team. Our business continued to grow, with a large contribution from our amazing team, the Google Partner program and our incredible business partners and contacts who regularly refer work to us.

We remain committed to doing the best job possible in terms of keeping up with new Google Ads features and setting up and managing Google Ad campaigns for clients. In addition to management services, I’m still providing 1-to-1 training and Google Ads Health Checks to help savvy Marketing Managers and Business Owners who would prefer to look after their own campaigns. It’s really inspiring to work with clients who are committed to their business being successful and passionate about what they do.

This year Google changed the name of Google AdWords to Google Ads. And we needed to make time to adjust to the new Google Ads interface. As always we found the events organised by the Partner Team really valuable.

We enjoyed working on Ad Campaigns for our long term B2B and retail clients, as well as fun Search, Display, YouTube and Remarketing campaigns to promote events and short-term promotions for nationwide businesses. Long term campaigns have the advantage that we can make a lot of small changes over time to improve their conversion rate, while short term promotions are fun in that they have a bigger budget and we need to be flexible and react quickly to get maximum results during the allocated time period.

In October Click-Winning Content was proud to sponsor the inaugural Click Engage Convert conference run by Impactiv8. A wealth of valuable content was shared during this one-day event, which will be held again in 2019.

Last year in my 2017 wrap up article I mentioned some factors that were critical for your website, and I’m still seeing websites for Google Ad campaigns that need these updates made:

  • Having a secure HTTPS domain
  • Being fast to load – If your website isn’t fast, people won’t stick around and wait for it. Test your site here.
  • Being mobile responsive – It’s likely that more than half of your website traffic comes from mobile devices, so not being mobile friendly is no longer an option if you want conversions and a good user experience.

On a personal note

Being able to work from anywhere allowed us to travel this year, spending time in the UK and Europe to get away from the Melbourne Winter (and indulge my tennis watching passion at the French Open and Wimbledon).

We’re currently enjoying dog sitting for our friends’ greyhound. Speaking of greyhounds, we’re still very passionate about promoting fostering and adoption of retired racing greyhounds, and have been volunteering for Greyhound Safety Net, a fabulous, volunteer run charity who rescues greyhounds and helps them find a forever home. We’re helping them increase their presence in Google to help save more dogs who don’t meet the criteria of the Victorian Greyhound Adoption Program and end up getting euthanised, as our beautiful foster dog Gordo was.

A huge thank you to our family, friends, team members, business partners, clients and the Google Partner program who continue to support us with advice, training, lunches and open honest discussions. I really appreciate being a part of so many business networks, including face-to-face networks in Melbourne and online groups via Facebook. Being surrounded by positive, supportive and smart people has made a big difference to our business success.

We look forward to continuing to make the Google Ads world a less jargon filled space in 2019!
