The humble FAQ page is often overlooked when people put their web content plan together. Here are three reasons why you should include it.
1.Build confidence by demonstrating your knowledge
Anticipate the real questions about your products and services that visitors to your website would like answered. By including these questions and answers on your FAQ page, you’ll give people confidence in working with you by demonstrating the depth or your knowledge and skill.
Sure, the copy on the other pages of your website should be aimed at achieving the same thing, but think of your FAQ page as a good place to reinforce the value you can provide.
For an ecommerce website, FAQ are particularly important in alleviating any doubts people might have before providing their credit card details online. Include FAQ about security of credit card and contact information, along with information about your returns policy, how items will be delivered and the process for tracking deliveries.
2.Benefit driven answers can help you win new business
Write the answers to your FAQ as you would any high quality other web copy; ensure that it is focused on solving the reader’s problems and outlines the benefits of using your product and working with your business.
Carefully chosen questions will allow you to reinforce the reasons why your prospects should choose to work with you, rather than your competitors.
3.Include keywords for search engine optimisation
The FAQ page is a great place to include keywords and lots of different variations of your keywords. As search terms in Australia are getting longer and longer, if the words on your FAQ page closely match what someone is searching for, you can pull in more web traffic.
Tips for writing your FAQ Page
- Start by asking your clients and prospects what questions they would need answered in order to be comfortable buying from you or working with you
- Do some internet research to help short list the questions you will include.
- Group questions together that are related to the same topic
- Use subheadings to make your list easy for readers to skim read
- Include a Call to Action to contact you if a question hasn’t been answered.
