Watch a 2.5 minute video and find out how to segment your Google Analytics data to view how many of your Google organic visits come from people using mobile devices.
From 21 April 2015, mobile-friendliness will be a Google Ranking Factor
As per this article from Search Engine Land on 26 February:
Google said that on April 21, 2015, Google’s mobile ranking factors will not only label your site as mobile-friendly, but will also use that to determine if your site should rank higher in the search results. Google said this algorithmic change will have a “significant impact” in the mobile search results, impacting all languages worldwide.
If your website isn’t search engine friendly yet, and getting organic traffic from Google is important for your business, now is the time to move to a responsive website.
What impact will this change have on your website’s ranking?
This will depend upon a lot of factors, including:
1. How mobile-friendly your competitors websites are. If they currently not mobile friendly, and they don’t act on Google’s update, you can seize a great opportunity to get ahead of them.
2. How much of your organic traffic currently comes from mobile devices.
To help you crunch the numbers for point number two, watch this video to find out how much of your organic traffic currently comes from mobile devices.

Hey Mel,
Thanks for the heads up. This is great to know but sucks if you need to update your websites (which I do!) .
How mobile responsive do they need to be?
What tips would you have for people whose websites are not responsive?
Thanks,
Serena 🙂

Hi Serena
There’s information in this Search Engine Land article about different levels of mobile-friendliness.

I moved my websites to a fully responsive theme, which was pretty straightforward as all the content transferred over smoothly.
